Role Overview
Pythia are looking for creative thinking and enthusiastic individuals to come onboard as Quantitative Analysts to join the current team in house Quants. The emphasis of the role is to conduct statistical analysis for the modeling development of sports.
Role Purpose
• The primary focus is to apply modeling techniques on large data sets to generate highly predictive outcomes
• Statistical analysis will be a key element required to achieve this
• A deep understanding of the data, its limitations and meaning will be a key responsibility, with the investigation of data validity being vital
• Permanent awareness of the limitations of any model output will be expected
Key Skills / Qualifications
• A knowledge and interest in sport will be helpful.
• A knowledge of advanced statistical principles and modelling techniques – MSc or PhD in statistics or machine learning are preferred although other mathematical backgrounds will be considered.
• Strong programming skills, with a preference for (but not limited to) Matlab primarily, and additionally R, Python and C++.
• UK Work visa or UK citizen essential

DB Programmer (West London)

Role Overview
Pythia Sports is currently recruiting for the role of an experienced Database programmer who is expected to have in depth knowledge of database schema design and implementation.
Role Purpose
• The candidate will be expected to perform programming for a fast moving and adapting database
• This will involve writing scripts, stored procedures and functions for the database.
• Cleaning data, ensuring data integrity and performing quality checks will be key to success
• Troubleshooting errors and corruption highlighted by modelers in a fast and efficient manner
• Work with business development in evaluating data sources and understand requirements
• Manage and guide junior programmers
Key Skills / Qualifications
• Experience of a minimum of 3 years in database programming
• In depth knowledge of database schema design and implementation
• Experience in MSSQL preferred. Good experience in SQL programming required
• Experience in database admin (Java, XML performing query)
• Experience in other programming language such as .Net (C#, VB.Net) database replication
• Graduate degree in computer sciences or applied mathematics (2:1 minimum)

Role Purpose
• Develop software for interaction with web services
• Maintain and customise applications
• Understand business demands
• Maximize system performance
• Collect business data for analysis
Key Skills / Qualifications
• Experience of a minimum of 1 years in C#/.Net programming
• Experience with SOAP and REST web services from a client perspective
• Experience with ADO.NET for Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with parallel, multithread programming
• Basic knowledge of Python is a plus
• Computer Science or Software Engineering degree, minimum 2:1
